REVEALED: Why Jacob Juma Kept Changing Lawyers

Fresh details have emerged highlighting that slain controversial Nairobi businessman Jacob Juma kept on shifting lawyers and law firms for every court case he was embroiled in.

Reports indicate that the businessman, who was known to attract controversy, rarely maintained lawyers from one firm to handle his cases from the start to the end.

It is said that many of his lawyers ditched him due to various discrepancies.

According to Juma's former allies, the businessman was “a genius in bypassing systems, buying signatures and most importantly outsmarting almost all his business associates”. After lawyers discovered that he had forged signatures and documents, they left him along the way.

"Despite bragging to be a billionaire, Juma shifted lawyers because he didn’t want to pay their full fees or along the way they discovered that he had lied or forged key documents,” one of his former lawyers is quoted by the Nation.

J.P Machira and Advocates, Steven Kibunja, Issa Nyakundi, Kyalo Mbombu and Ahmednasir Abdullahi are some of the law firms and lawyers that represented him in court.

Many of his cases revolved around land disputes, corruption, failure to honour contracts and tenders.

Doubts have also been cast on his wealth, despite publicly claiming that he was a billionaire.

An investigative piece by the local daily revealed that Juma owned one second-hand Mercedes Benz contrary to claims by the deceased that he owned a Rolls Royce Phantom.

Other than his mansion in Karen - a fortress with five all en suite bedrooms, served by ten servants and with most fittings imported from Italy, Canada and Australia - there is no other property known to be his.

The controversial businessman was murdered three weeks ago by unknown people while heading to his home in Karen, Nairobi.
