See How Journalists Remember Ahmed Darwesh

The media fraternity is mourning the sudden loss of KTN Swahili anchor Ahmed Darwesh who died on Monday at Mater Hospital, after being immobilised by diabetes earlier in the day.

Journalists from various media houses paid tribute to Darwesh, popularly referred to as Daru, with many highlighting how humourous, humble and generous the anchor was.

The Swahili anchor is remembered as a kind man who held the hands of new individuals in the media industry and guided them.

K24's Morning Show Host Ian Wafula, who previously worked at KTN as a reporter, called to mind his first encounter with Darwesh during his first interview after leaving Campus, stating that Darwesh believed in him.

NTV's anchor Larry Madowo wrote a heartfelt message to the fallen veteran, citing how he assisted him when he was a newbie at KTN as a Business reporter.

Madowo recalled that Darwesh bought him lunch numerous times when he was a struggling journalist, and could not forget how he included him in a one week-long reporting trip to Egypt.

His collegue and anchor Joy Doreen Biira recollected how Darwesh constantly cared for her when she was expectant.

Darwesh will be buried on Tuesday evening at Kikowani Cemetery in Mombasa.

Here are other messages:

Why, Ahmed Darwesh? He dropped me home daily before I got a car & looked out for me as I started out. So long, Daru pic.twitter.com/Qxuobh5Z0t
