Senior PCEA Church Leader Shoots Self

A top leader at the Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA) has surprised many faithfuls after he committed suicide on Thursday evening inside his house in Muthaiga estate, Nairobi.

The Senior Reverend reportedly shot himself on the right side of the chest and succumbed to the impact on the spot.

Starehe OCPD Alice Kimeli confirmed the incident, saying that the deceased had been suffering from cancer of bone.

According to witnesses, the church leader who was also a licensed firearm holder, left behind a suicide note detailing reasons for ending his life.

Officers from the scene of crime department were immediately called in to commence investigations into the matter, with the body of the deceased being ferried to the mortuary.

PCEA church leaders have on several occasions been on the limelight over bizarre actions, raising questions on their suitability to lead the faithfuls.

On Wednesday, a gay PCEA youth leader was charged in a Murang'a court for sending seductive messages to a male journalist.

Godfrey Mburu Waithera, who is also a teacher, was accused of soliciting for sex from radio host Victor Kinuthia. He was released on a Sh200,000 bond and a surety of the same amount after pleading guilty to the charges.
