Shock as 27 Students Go Missing

At least 27 students from Isiolo County have reportedly gone missing from schools and fears abound that they might have joined the Al-Shabaab militia group.

Isiolo County Commissioner George Natembeya confirmed the reports and stated that 20 are from High Schools while the rest are from universities.

Mr Natembeya noted that parents from Isiolo County might be giving away their children to the terrorist group in exchange for money.

“We have intelligence that some parents are aware and support their families in joining terror groups but some [only] complain after feeling that the promised reward is not forthcoming,” Natembeya was quoted by the Daily Nation.

He warned parents that the group was targeting disadvantaged families with the promise of a better life.

The Commissioner assured that they had launched investigations in some schools suspected to be helping students access radicalization videos.
