Parents at a school in Laikipia County shocked the public when they defended a teacher who had allegedly defiled and impregnated a Class Four pupil.
According to the parents at Ewaso Primary School, impregnating a minor was not a big deal and the teacher being a local ought to be protected against the shame.
“Reporting our own is not an ordinary thing, in fact, it should be documented in the Guinness book of world records,” a parent said.
The parents are instead pushing for the removal of the school's headteacher Ann Resian for reporting the suspect to the Teachers Service Commission.
The residents further claim that the headteacher is a traitor because she has plotted the downfall of a fellow community member.
“The parents have not been comfortable by the fact that am a local of this area, yet I have reported one of my own to the police and TSC. Now they are looking for petty excuses to push me out,” said Resian as reported by QTV.
The suspect is still at large despite the teachers' employer being aware of the allegations facing its employee.
Human rights activists have taken up the matter to ensure the girl who is six months pregnant gets justice.
