Suspected Mungiki Members Arrested in Police Raid

Police on Wednesday morning arrested 24 men and women believed to be members of the ourtlawed Mungiki sect.

The men and women were found at a house in Kayole, Nairobi during a raid conducted by police at 2am.

The men who were dressed in neatly pressed black suits and women were in skirt suits were siezed with training manuals during the raid.

Financial records showing the amount each member is expected to pay were also found in the house.

Kayole OCPD Ali Nuno said they also recovered a schedule showing the colour of clothes the men and women were to put on.

Surprisingly some of the women arrested had children with them.

The illegal sect is known for extortion and ethnic violence in the country.

The government has in the past fought to ensure the group is wiped out but reports indicate that the sect could still be existing in some parts of the country.
