Uhuru Sacks Kimaiyo

President Uhuru Kenyatta has revoked the appointment of former Police boss David Kimaiyo as Chairman of the Kenya Airports Authority.

In a gazette notice released on Friday, the President announced that Mr Kimaiyo had been dropped from the senior position at KAA.

The statement also pointed out that the position would now be occupied by immediate former Chief of Defence Forces Julius Karangi.

“I appoint with immediate effect Major General Julius Karangi to be the non-executive chairman of KAA with immediate effect. The appointment of David Kimaiyo is revoked,” reads part of the notice.

Kimaiyo was appointed to the position in 2014 after resigning as the police boss. It is unclear what led to the sacking of the former Inspector General.

Also featured in the new appointments are former politician Raphael Tuju who will now Chair Lake Basin Development Authority and Ramadhan Kajembe to head Kenya Ferry Services.

Last week, the Head of State through Industrialisation Cabinet Secretary Adan Mohammed appointed former Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Ole Lenku as the Chairman of the Sacco Societies Regulatory Authority.
