VIDEO: British Company Exposes Dedan Kimathi's Shooters

A British production company has unveiled a rare footage showing how Mau Mau war veteran Dedan Kimathi was captured by white police men back in 1956.

The freedom fighter was executed by the colonial government and was confirmed dead by a Doctor K E Robertson who made the announcements on February 18 1957.

In the monochrome video, Kimathi is shown lying on a bed after sustaining injuries from gunshots by two home guards identified as Ndirangu and Njogu, who shot him on the hip flooring him.

The self-styled Field Marshal, is surrounded by colonial administrators at the Nyeri Provincial Hospital, where they parade him and his leopard skin attires.

Kimathi had been the undisputed leader of the Mau Mau fighters, operating from the Aberdare and Mt Kenya forests, since the British declared a State of Emergency in October 1952.

It is at the Nyeri Hospital where his famous photos were taken while lying down.

Meanwhile, on Thursday Chief Justice Willy Mutunga handed the late Kimathi's case files to his 85 year old Widow Eloise Mukami.
