VIDEO: Driver Escapes, Leaves Passengers in Moving Matatu

A matatu driver left passengers staring at a tragedy after he jumped off the vehicle leaving it unmanned along, Jogoo Road in Nairobi.

The driver resorted to abandoning the 14-seater matatu on Saturday evening after spotting National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) officials who were out to nab drunk drivers.

A police officer was forced to run after the moving vehicle in a bid to save the passengers lives, bringing it to a stop.

Some of the officers attempted to pursue the driver but he managed to escape.

This is the latest among dramatic incidents that unfold over weekends as police mount Alcoblow traps along various highways in the city.

Last weekend three people lost their lives while desperately evading the alcoblow net, when they made u-turns in the middle a highway then drove towards oncoming traffic resulting into accidents.
