VIDEO: National School Principal Shamed as Students Watch

Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Fred Matiangi surprised a national school Deputy Principal after he stormed his school early in the morning.

The CS arrived Thursday at Kitui High School shortly after 8am to assess the institution only to find the school Principal missing.

“Who gave the Principal permission to go to Nairobi?” Matiangi asked the County Education Executives.

CS Matiangi asked the deputy principal to take him round the school and was shocked to find the institution in a poor sanitation state.

“This is a National School and we expect our children to learn in an environment of order. Are you happy that this is how the school looks?” the CS hard-pressed the deputy principal who could not explain the school's untidy condition.

Matiangi also discovered that there were no teachers in two classes including the first that he set foot.

Upon questioning the deputy principal, he bailed himself out explaining that the missing tutor was away on permission.

In a Form 2 class with 45 students, the CS was shocked to find students sharing eight textbooks despite the government sending sufficient funds to the school.

“A second class without a teacher and this is the first lesson. They have eight textbooks and they are 45 students and this is okay for you!” Matiangi scolded the school boss in front of the learners.

A shaken Deputy just babbled a few words as Matiangi continuously condemned the state in which learners were subjected.
