VIDEO: Police Bosses Admit Having 'Mpango wa Kandos'

The ongoing vetting of police officers in the Coastal region has exposed how senior officers engage in extra-marital affairs at their workstations.

Details of the affairs emerged when Sergeant Sebastian Maloba of Diani Traffic Department was tasked to explain huge amounts of money he had sent to a particular lady.

Pressed to divulge on his relationship with the woman, Mr Maloba confessed to having an illicit affair which he blamed on deployment to stations away from home.

“In our job, we are stationed far from home so sometimes this can happen,” he reluctantly stated.

Mwatate Base Commander Senior Sergeant Francis Amburi also had a hard time trying to justify accusations of having several girlfriends, a situation he linked to being away from his home area.

“We, officers who are below 50 years, whose wives live in other towns are human too with feelings, hence we find ourselves engaging in those things,” explained Amburi.

The vetting commission was also concerned that senior officers were sleeping with spouses of their juniors, noting that the trend could compromise harmony in the force.

"It is emerging that some officers are involved with wives and husbands of their colleagues especially where one is in a senior and another in a junior position and this might affect command and control,” said one of the Commissioners.
