VIDEO: 'Police Officers' Caught on Camera Stealing

Five people purporting to be police officers were captured by CCTV cameras allegedly stealing from a Nairobi businessman's house.

The five are said to have arrived at the residence which is also the workplace of James Maina in Pipeline, Embakasi, and confronted his employee before making away with valuable pieces of metal.

In the footage aired on national television, the suspects are seen roughing up Mr Maina's worker after which they order him to load the metal in their vehicle. The suspects are then said to have bundled Mr Maina's worker into their vehicle and then driven off towards Embakasi Police Station.

According to the businessman, the suspected criminals deceived his employee that they were carrying out investigations on stolen valuables but upon reaching the police station they let him go.

After finding out what had transpired, Mr Maina took the CCTV footage to the Crimes office in Embakasi, where investigating officers confirmed that the people in the video were fake officers.

What baffled the businessman is how the suspects managed to get police handcuffs yet they were not real officers.

“I would like to know what they were doing with police handcuffs and who are these people terrorising innocent citizens like us,” Mr Maina was quoted by K24.

The Criminal Investigations Officer in Embakasi admitted that some policemen and women were rogue but his office would investigate to ascertain beyond doubt that the suspects were not security agents.
