VIDEO: Raila Helplessly Escapes Thick Teargas

Opposition leader Raila Odinga was Monday caught up in heavy tear gassing by police officers at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Offices (IEBC).

The former Prime Minister was leading CORD supporters in a protest to eject IEBC officials from their offices at the Anniversary Towers, when the scene turned chaotic prompting police to disperse the surging crowd.

In a video capturing the incident, Odinga is seen running for dear life as his security detail fight to whisk him away from the chaotic scene. Amid the chocking gas, Odinga and his security gasp the 'thin' air before getting into a waiting car then drive off.

CORD leaders were demanding the exit of IEBC Commissioners claiming they had zero confidence in the Commission.

Nairobi County Commander Japheth Koome had earlier warned that the planned protest would not be allowed asking the organizers to seek alternative avenues to resolve their dispute.

“The protest will not be allowed and we will use all means possible to stop it. Why are they going there? They should instead seek alternative channels to air their grievances and not disrupt activities in town,” cautioned Koome.
