VIDEO: Sonko Finally Identifies Conman Using His Fake Account

Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko is hunting down a man identified as Stanley Kariuki, who has been conning Kenyans using a fake Facebook account bearing the Senator's name.

Sonko posted a video on social media, in which Kariuki poses as his personal assistant assuring a man that he would help him get a motorbike.

In the video Kariuki is heard promising to give the caller a motorbike, helmet, reflector and logbook once he sends him Sh3,200 as the 'logbook transfer fee'.

Using the fake Hon Mike Mbuvi Sonko Facebook account, Kariuki advertised an initiative supposedly by the Senator to give a number of youths motorbikes to fend for themselves.

"Hello watu wangu, its yet a wonderful Thursday and my Motorbike Project is today donating 15 motorbikes to the first serious friends who can operate bodabodas or use it to generate some income with it," the post reads in part.

The Nairobi Senator has repeatedly warned Kenyans against the imposter stating that his Sonko Rescue Team had no project of giving away motorbikes, adding that if there was such an initiative 'they do not ask for any payment'.

"Don't get lied to by stupid petty thieves who will con you to send them money for a motorbike project using my name. Mike Sonko doesn't ask for money from his fans[sic]," Sonko stated

In his Facebook post Sonko noted: "We are tracking STANLEY KARIUKI, the man behind the fake account".
