VIDEO: Yego Makes World's Best Throw In 14 Years, Earns Gold

Julius Yego has won gold for his 92.72 meters javelin throw at the ongoing IAAF World Championships in Beijing.

His throw is the best mark in the last 14 years and the third best record in the history of javelin.

Yego is famously known as the 'Youtube man', after he learnt the sport online.

After placing 4th at the World Championships in Moscow, Yego vowed to better his throws come 2014.

He came in first at the 2014 Commonwealth games with a throw of 83.87 meters, making him the Commonwealth record holder.

He also became the first Kenyan to win a medal in field events.

As his winning streak continued, he later broke the record at the African Championships with a 84.72 meters throw.

Kenya also won its 6th gold medal through Hyvin Jepkemoi in an tightly contested women's 3000 meters steeplechase. Tunisia's Habiba Ghibri and Gesa Krause of Germany came second and third respectively.

Yego and Jepkemoi's victory brings Kenya's medals to 11 topping the table standings followed by Britain which has 3 then Jamaica taking the third position with 3 medals.
