Nkaissery Vows to Arrest Raila's Team

Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery has warned that the Government will not allow the Opposition to hold parallel Madaraka Day celebrations at Uhuru Park on Wednesday.

Mr Nkaissery stated that only the president was allowed to preside over such events, hence, the CORD coalition would be violating the constitution.

“Madaraka Day is a national holiday, therefore, only the president is allowed to preside over such functions. By organising a parallel rally at Uhuru Park, CORD is contravening the law and we will not allow them to do that,” Mr Nkaissery stated.

Speaking in Kajiado on Sunday, the Interior CS threatened to arrest Raila Odinga and his co-principals Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula if they persisted with their plans for Wednesday's Madaraka Day celebrations.

"Including Raila, Kalonzo, Wetangula, Muthama, Orengo, we are going to arrest them if they break the law. We are not going to back down on this," Nkaissery firmly stated.

Meanwhile, confusion reigns over occupancy of the Uhuru Park grounds come on Wednesday, as both Evangelist Lucy Wa Ngunjiri of Prayers Beyond Boundaries Ministries and CORD insist on booking the park.

The Opposition leaders maintain that the planned rally will go on while Bishop Ngunjiri has affirmed she would not cancel her mission set for May 30-June 3. According to the evangelist, the country was in dire need of prayers.
