Pain engulfed Gitweku Village in Murang’a County after a candidate sitting for the KCSE examination died before writing her final paper.
Roseliz Wanjiku Mwangi from Karingu Secondary School passed away on Friday morning leaving residents and classmates in deep sorrow.
The candidate had already sat for 15 papers and was only left with one to complete her secondary school studies before succumbing to what was described as a heart attack.
News of her death badly affected her former classmates who are said to have written Friday's papers in tears.
Amid tears, the girl's mother Regina Mueni narrated how her daughter recently developed a swollen leg and was treated and discharged.
Mueni recalled that later, a doctor advised her daughter to tie her leg to ensure proper circulation of blood in her body.
The candidate, however, collapsed on Friday morning and was rushed to the hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Ms Wanjiku painfully faulted the advice claiming that it might have been the cause of her daughter's death since doctors divulged that the heart attack was caused by irregular blood supply.
“At Hospital, I was told that she died because blood was not circulating properly in the body due to the knot tied around her swollen leg,” she narrated.
The examination period has been marred by several unfortunate incidents with one case being that of a candidate who collapsed moments before sitting for the exam, after taking what was termed as 'brain boosting' pills.
