An elegant and well-maintained house that is more than 200 years old in London will go down in history for hosting President Jomo Kenyatta between 1933-1937.
During this time, Kenyatta was a student at the London School of Economics. It is while living here that the former president wrote his book Facing Mount Kenya and also developed a keen interest in setting Kenya free from colonial rule.
Kenyans.co.ke delved into the house that has historical significance and established the address to be SW1, Cambridge Street, 95.
On March 11, 2005, the house was declared a protected English Heritage Monument at a ceremony attended by President Uhuru Kenyatta (then serving as the opposition leader) and presided over by Najib Balala (then serving as Minister for National Heritage).
