Ruto's Son Cries Out to Govt [VIDEO]

Deputy President William Ruto's son, Nick Ruto, on Sunday, Sept 1, reached out to the President Uhuru Kenyatta-led government over a project started by a Mombasa businessman.

Speaking at Kwa Jomvu Primary School during a tour of Mombasa, Nick urged the state to take sports seriously in the coastal town, explaining that it was the best avenue for getting the youth out of drugs.

He was attending a volleyball tournament organised by businessman-cum-politician Mohamed Abdalla, who is reported to be eyeing the Jomvu MP seat in 2022.

“Sports is a new drug. All youth, wherever they are in Kenya, should come out and participate in such events.

"Maybe the government should come up with ways in which they can support initiatives like what Mohammed has started, so that the youth can focus their energies on these activities," he told the press.

The trained lawyer further urged the youth to show their leaders that they can be trusted in order to be taken seriously.

“The people in leadership will trust us and empower us if we show that they can trust us," he continued.

Echoing his sentiments, Abdalla, the Crown Petroleum Kenya boss, disclosed that youth in the city were dying from drugs.

He also blamed corporates for not intervening in the dire situation explaining that they should do more for the youth.

In February, Chief Justice David Maraga, admitted some 223 people to the bar including Nick.
