Atwoli Unveils Cunning Methods Used by Police Recruits to Secure Jobs [VIDEO]

COTU secretary general Francis Atwoli on Sunday brought to light hideous means police recruits employ to acquire the jobs.

Speaking during a fundraising event in Bukwala SDA in Kakamega county, the vocal Atwoli revealed the rot in the police force.

"Recently you all saw what was happening in the police service, they are now thieves because there is no vetting during the recruiting process," he bagan.

"If you want your son/daughter to be taken into the police force, you ask them to write 50 underneath their feet. They are then asked to sit and show their feet and when the recruiting officers see 50, they know that that particular one has 50,000 and they get the job," he added.

This according to the COTU boss was the reason why there were increased murders and robberies by the law enforcers.

He compared the current recruitment process to that used in the past stating that the latter was better because an aspirant had to get a recommendation letter from the Chief and assistant chief first before being shortlisted.

"When the country turns a blind eye to corruption it gives rise to bad graduates and citizens, " he analysed.

His remarks come after the recent police robberies with the latest being six officers who were on Wednesday, October 9, apprehended in the middle of a bank heist in Machakos County.

The culprits were busted as they were hurriedly draining an ATM after some crafty engineering to pry it open.

Also, on Sunday, October 6, residents of Kayole, Nairobi was left counting losses after rogue police officers went on the rampage at several of the local bars, grabbing drinks from the counters, smashing them on the walls and stealing several bottles in the process.
