Five family members were on Wednesday morning, January 6, found dead in their house in Ndũndũ village, Karura Ka Mũrĩmo, Kiambu county.

The brutally murdered victims consisted of Njoroge Warunge, his wife, two children and a niece.

It is reported that their mobile phones went unanswered, raising suspicion among other family members.

Their bodies were found a day after the family's farmhand was also found dead in a neighbouring compound.

Witnesses said that the farmhand's body had been severed with his head found outside the family's house and the torso left in the neighbouring compound.

Locals in the area stated that those who saw the farmhand's body did not bother to check the inside of the house.

Homicide detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have since been called in to handle the case.

The family has three other children who were at school at the time of the incident.

The horrific incident took place just days after a couple and their 3 children were found dead in their house in Githurai, Nairobi County.

Reports indicated that Jacob Karumba, his wife Doris and their children, suffocated to death due to carbon monoxide poisoning.

Police are said to have received an alert from the neighbours who had found the bodies of the family members.

“At around 10 p.m they (neighbours) decided to check on them since the door was not locked with a padlock. Upon opening the door, they discovered five bodies lying lifeless.

“It is suspected that the family died from suffocation from the charcoal jiko that was found in the house,” part of the police report reads.
