The autopsy result of a lawyer who was found dead in her bedroom on Friday, January 8, in Syokimau, Machakos County, has been released.
According to a report by Government pathologist Johansen Oduor, Elizabeth Koki suffocated to death.
Oduor, who conducted the autopsy at the Montezuma Funeral Home, stated that the deceased suffered injuries on the mouth which are consistent with a gag.
"She was suffocated to death," Oduor's report stated.
A Congolese National, Christian Kadima, has since been arrested in connection to the murder. He was allegedly the last person spotted leaving Koki's house on the night detectives believe the lawyer was killed.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the two were having an argument on the night Koki died. The heated argument was purportedly due to photos found on Kadima's phone.
Quizzed by detectives, Kadima stated that Koki fell from the bed and hit her head. He explained that he left the deceased unconscious and drove off in her car to the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD), where he met a friend and narrated what had taken place.
The two would later part ways and according to the suspect, his friend went to Riruta while he booked a room at a lodging.
It is at this lodging that detectives traced him to the following day.
"Detectives have finally arrested Christian Mwambay Kadima, who has been on the run since the wee hours of the morning, following the gruesome murder of a prominent city lawyer," DCI wrote on Twitter.
The investigative body added that Kadima had tried to outsmart officers by driving his getaway car to Riruta, to create a false impression on his whereabouts.
The suspect is also wanted in South Africa for assaulting a woman by the name Miranda Jacobs.
“An application is hereby made for the issue of a warrant for the arrest of Eloges Christian Kadima on a charge of assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm there being from information taken upon oath a reasonable suspicion that he/she committed the alleged offence on June 24, 2017 in Johannesburg,” reads a police report from South Africa.
