Weatherman Issues Warning on Nairobi Rains

The Kenya Meteorological Department has warned Nairobians of the impending heavy rains in the capital from Tuesday, March 30, to Monday, April 5.

Specifically, the meteorological department stated that more rains would be experienced on Wednesday and Thursday.

Other parts of the country expected to receive rainfall include; the Lake Victoria Basin, the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Central and South Rift Valley, the Highlands East of the Rift Valley (including Nairobi County) and the South-eastern Lowlands.

"These rains mark the onset of the rains over these areas, however, intermittent dry spells are likely to occur as earlier predicted," reads the statement in part.

Some areas in the Northwest and the Northeast are likely to experience strong south-easterly winds with speeds exceeding 25 knots (12.9m/s).

In the Lake Victoria Basin, morning rains are expected over a few places. Afternoon showers and thunderstorms are likely to occur over several places while evening showers are expected over a few places.

 

In the highlands, mornings are expected to be cloudy with occasional rains over a few places. Afternoon and evening showers are likely to occur over few to several places.

In the south-eastern lowlands, occasional morning rains as well as afternoon and evening showers are likely to occur over a few places.

In the Coastal strip, occasional morning, afternoon and evening showers are expected to occur over a few places.

In times when it is rainy, the Kenya meteorological department advises citizens to be extra vigilant due to poor visibility.
