The late MP also served as the Chairperson, Departmental Committee on Administration and National Security.

President Uhuru Kenyatta eulogized the MP saying Kenya has lost one of its dependable leaders whose undivided focus was the unity, stability, and progress of the country.

“The cruel hand of death has robbed us of a steadfast leader. A leader and gentleman whose undivided focus was the peace, stability, and progress of our country,” said President Uhuru.

President Uhuru mourned Koinange as a keen and steadfast supporter of the country’s peace agenda through the National Assembly’s Departmental Committee on Administration and National Security where he was the Chairperson.

“Through the National Assembly Departmental Committee on Administration and National Security where he was the Chairperson, Hon Koinange advanced legislation and policy interventions that sought to create a peaceful, stable and tranquil nation,” noted Uhuru in his condolence message.

The Head of State prayed God to grant strength and fortitude to the family, relatives, and residents of Kiambaa Constituency at this difficult time of mourning.

Messages of condolence from the political divide have poured in.

"Honourable Paul Koinange was a dependable, illustrious and visionary figure who worked for the people of Kiambaa Constituency with diligence. He was a progressive and selfless politician whose exceptional servant leadership will be missed," said Deputy President William Ruto.

"The people of Kiambaa have lost in Paul Koinange, a diligent and dependable leader whose undivided focus was the unity, stability and progress of the country. He served with distinction as the Chairperson of the National Assembly’s Committee on Administration and National Security," mourned ODM Party leader Raila Odinga.

"It is shocking to hear that my good friend Hon. Paul Koinange is no more. His sudden death is a big blow to the nation because he was a towering patriot. Hon. Koinange was a very humble man and dedicated leader who was committed to his work and the welfare of his people." eulogized Gideon Moi.

In February, the deceased crafted a bill that will curb politicians from creating a class war in Kenya.

The late Paul Koinange through the Parliament’s National Security Committee, drafted a bill that aimed to punish people who propagate class division in the country with those found guilty sentenced to five years in prison or required to pay a Ksh 5 million fine.

The bill states that; “A person who has been dismissed or removed from office for a contravention of sections 62(1) and 62A(1) is disqualified from holding any other State or public office.”
