An inferno burned a section of the Gatakaini Investment building in the Central Business District (CBD) on Friday, July 16.

Videos seen by Kenyans.co.ke showed smoke billowing from the top floor offices of the building located opposite Khoja Mosque.

The fire brigade responded but the smoke could still be seen billowing from the building.

Following the incident, Thika Highway from the Khoja roundabout was temporarily closed to allow the first responders to put out the inferno before it spread to other parts of the large building.

This comes amid a puzzle and investigations into a fire that razed down the home Political Analyst Mutahi Ngunyi on Wednesday, July 14.

An employee who works for the Ngunyi's stated that the family was at home when the inferno started past midnight. According to him, police were alerted and raised an alarm with the fire brigade who arrived late.

According to the Standard, the worker maintained that the family was not hurt but nothing was saved in the inferno which gutted down the home Mutahi has lived for the last 27 years in the high-end Runda suburbs.

"The family was around when the fire started past midnight but no one was hurt. Nothing was saved because the fire engines delayed," he stated.

Runda Police confirmed that they were called at 2 am and responded immediately. They also informed the fire brigade who arrived at the scene and put out the fire until 4 am in the morning.

Officers reported that the family first noticed smoke billowing from the ceiling as it moved fast to other areas of the expansive home.

So far the cause of the fire has not been established but Kenya Power was at the scene to collect samples for forensic analysis at the government's chemist.

The news was first made public by communications and digital strategist Dennis Itumbi but with a less serious note that later culminated into a back and forth between him and Ngunyi.
