Former Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) Chief Executive Officer, Ezekiel Mutua, has detailed how a chance meeting with two youths in 2016, helped them land a lucrative opportunity with Mama Ida Odinga.

Taking to his social platform on Wednesday, September 8, Mutua explained that he met both David Kyalo and Cephas Gathii through a career talk at Ofafa Jericho Secondary School in 2016.

He pointed out that the two young men left an indelible mark when they were given a chance to speak.

"The duo had touching personal stories about their hustle, great vision for an events management company they had just started after school and they articulated with clarity and conviction the values that defined their purpose. I was impressed," he stated.

Looking forward to keeping in touch with the brazen young men, Mutua gave them his business card. Both Kyalo and Gathii ventured into event organising and brushed shoulders with the high and the mighty.

"During one of their events at KICC dubbed Youth Entrepreneurs Expo, they pulled one of the biggest youth congregations I had witnessed," he noted.

"The branding was exquisite and the speakers were insightful and impeccable. I connected with some amazing young people whom I ended up getting jobs through connections created by David and Cephas."

Their professionalism embodied by the two led Mutua to connect them with Mama Ida Odinga, the wife of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga, for a mega event, she was organising at the time.

The former KFCB boss vouched for the two young men, and true to his words, they delivered the promise - in what Mutua termed it as "an event that looked as if it was coordinated by an international company."

He lauded the duo for their achievements over the years, winning awards in the 40 under 40 as well as gaining international recognition for their business acumen.

Mutua pointed out that he is currently in talks with them over ideas on how to empower the youth post the Covid-19 era.
