Controversial city Pastor James Nga'ng'a, has reacted to the Media Council of Kenya's (MCK) move to shut down his Sasa TV station.
In a video posted on Friday, October 29, Ng'ang'a rubbished the move stating that his station is under the Communications Commission of Kenya(CCK) and not the MCK.
"As far as I know, I'm not under Media Council, I'm under CCK. We report to CCK," he stated.
The city pastor who is currently in the USA, castigated the move stating that other communication-related bodies too can inquire for information through his lawyer.
"I received the letter from CCK giving me a warning. So if the other media would like to do that, let them go to my address, find my P.O Box from CCK then send to my address and request what you want then I can send my lawyer to answer you," he stated.
The controversial pastor went ahead to accuse other media stations of attacking and intimidating him stating that he is a preacher called to minister to people and is not under anybody.
"For other media to attack me, I'm a preacher, not under anybody to preach water or what. That depends on the message I have. If it is a bad thing that maybe has happened, I can answer to that," he stated.
"Let me not brush shoulders with TV. You have your own TV, sell whatever you want...me I'm a preacher so if somebody will be there just trying to intimidate me, this time its too late," he added.
He also stated that he is not new to controversies with the media, claiming that they are frustrating him because of the success of his station.
"I'm not new in media, we just celebrated our 30 years in ministry yesterday and today the media is threatening to shut down our station. They are jealous because my station has grown," he stated.
He went ahead to address his viewers by quoting a scripture stating that they should interrogate him before being part of his congregation.
In a press statement, MCK alleged that the televangelist used offensive language on a live TV program on October 9, 2021, which was a breach of code conduct set by the body, regarding the obscenity, taste, and tone of reporting.
In May 2019, Ng'ang'a was captured in another clip lecturing his church’s pastors. He was also implicated in a Ksh3.6 million fraud case where he got acquitted barely three weeks ago after the parties agreed to settle the matter out of court.
