Endebess Member of Parliament Robert Pukose’s car burst into flames minutes after it was parked by his driver.

According to the driver, he parked the car and went to freshen up only to come back and find the vehicle up in flames in the wee hours of the morning of November, 30.

Detectives from the Directorate of criminal investigations (DCI) in Trans Nzoia launched investigations into the incident which occurred a few meters away from the lawmaker's home.

The driver recounted the incident to journalists noting that it was raining heavily when he found the vehicle burning.

“I had parked the car at the usual car park after my morning errands and went to my house a few metres from the MPs residence and was shocked to see the double cabin in flames,” the driver, Amos Maragach stated.

“I was surprised to see the car burning while it is raining, I am wondering what could have transpired as it has burned to a shell,” he added.

The sub-county police commander Selassio Muriithi confirmed the incident and told journalists that they had started investigations into the matter.

“We received the report from the driver and visited the scene to ascertain what transpired and true we found the shell of the car with smoke smouldering from it,” Muriithi stated.

MP Pukose urged residents to be peaceful adding that he had faith in the police to conduct investigations and table their findings in due time.

“Let’s remain calm and give the relevant authorities time to do their investigations and stop speculating on what could have transpired,” he stated.

This comes amid a heated political season in Kenya which has in the past been marred with chaos during political rallies, as leaders call for tolerance.

When the DP William Ruto visited the Nyanza region, a rowdy crowd pelted his convoy with stones, forcing police to take action in order to protect the second in command from being injured. The DP was whisked out of Kondele and bundled into a chopper that took him to safety.
