A family in Mombasa is pleading for help after their kin went missing days after graduating from the General Service Unit (GSU) Training School.

According to details, the graduate identified as Mohammed Daud, went missing immediately after leaving GSU Embakasi Camp located in Nairobi.

The distressed family noted that the fresh graduate reached out to them stating that he was visiting a relative who resides in Eastleigh before travelling home the following day.

Five days since he made the call, Mohammed is yet to reach home or be seen. The officer was set to go home for a two-week break before reporting back to the training camp for deployment.

The 23-year-old has left his family worried compelling them to plead with the national government in collaboration with the National Police Service to track him down.

Reports from the Embakasi GSU Camp indicate that indeed Mohammed left the camp after graduation that was presided over by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

His mother, in the appeal to the government, noted that she needs to be informed whether his son is alive or not so as to bring a closure to the suffering and the mysterious disappearance.

"I am just pleading with the national government to help me, I am not in any position to help myself at the moment. Just help me find my son. If he is alive just tell or even if he no more just let me know," she pleaded.

Mohammed left their Barsheba, Mombasa County, home on February 27, for GSU training with a promise to transform the lives of his family.

His brother recalled his last message before leaving for training when he asked the family to pray for him.

"He said when I come back from that training, you will all be happy. So you should all pray for me for the Highest to enable me finish my training in peace then I will bring hope to this whole family."

On December 8, when he graduated, the family's hopes and joy were high, only to come down like a house of cards following reports of his disappearance.

This comes even as the police continue investigating a case where the GSU officers recorded themselves making some reckless claims.

The officers in question, who were fresh graduates, have since been retained at the training school even as investigations continue to establish how and why they joined the police service.
