Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has shared intrigues behind signing a pact with Azimio La Umoja, adding that the Kenya Kwanza alliance led by Deputy President William Ruto planned to scuttle his deal with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Musyoka who was speaking during an interview with Citizen TV's Waihiga Mwaura on Friday, March 18, claimed that DP's handlers tried wooing him to the coalition before he joined Raila's Azimio La Umoja movement.

Kenya Kwanza brigade, he said, sent his close friend and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula to convince him to join Ruto's camp.

However, Kalonzo stated that he declined their offer and signed with Azimio La Umoja as he differed politically with the Kenya Kwanza team.

"They sent Wetangula, my friend, but we never met and we are still waiting to meet. If they think they can convince me and if they love this country, I'll tell them to drop this bid. I will look at William Ruto and tell him to drop this bid," he stated.

Kalonzo stated that he missed Wetangula's partnership and he is still hopeful that the Ford Kenya leader will join him in Azimio La Umoja.

"I tell you, I miss Wetangula because I have suffered and struggled with him. So don't be surprised if he joins me. I pray every day and night for Wetangula to leave Kenya Kwanza and join Azimio la Umoja," Musyoka remarked.

On his deal with Raila, Kalonzo revealed the power-sharing agreement was for mid-level positions such as Cabinet Secretaries, Principal Secretaries and the finer details were not yet agreed upon.

The Wiper leader also refuted claims that he was paid Ksh3 billion to join Azimio La Umoja adding that the allegations were questioning his integrity and love for the country.

“Those who know me understand that integrity is an integral part of me. Since I was born I have never seen Ksh1 billion. And why would one keep Ksh1 billion? I can never auction my community,” he stated.

Kalonzo also clarified his comments about impeaching ODM leader Raila Odinga stating that it was blown out of proportion by the media.

“Talks on power-sharing are still underway. We want to ensure that the Kamba community gets the respect it deserves.

“As OKA, we shall be on the ballot because we have created a coalition agreement modelled around the three-legged stool known as Azimio-One Kenya Alliance,” he stated.
