Wiper Democratic Movement leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, hosted President Uhuru Kenyatta at his Karen home on Friday, March 18.

Photos that surfaced on Saturday and seen by Kenyans.co.ke show Uhuru, Kalonzo, and KANU party leader, Gideon Moi, sharing a meal at the former Vice President's residence.

In a statement by the Wiper party boss, Kalonzo noted that the discusses centred around the pact between Azimio La Umoja and the One Kenya Alliance (OKA). He affirmed his support for the former Prime Minister.

"It was my absolute pleasure to host Uhuru at my Nairobi residence. We are Azimio - One Kenya and we will support the Right Honorable former Prime Minister in the forthcoming August General Election," Kalonzo stated.

This is the first meeting between Kalonzo and the Head of State since Wiper signed a pact with Azimio La Umoja, effectively endorsing the candidature of Raila.

The presence of Gideon Moi was a clear indication that the One Kenya Alliance team was still intact and a strong member of the Azimio La Umoja.

The meeting between the President and Kalonzo comes amid statements by the Wiper boss that the agreement he signed at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) was part on a larger bargain.

On March 14, Kalonzo raised eyebrows when he declared that he had no idea what he signed at KICC when he led his party into joining Azimio La umoja.

He added that there were two separate documents presented to the parties but Wiper only affixed its signature on one.

"There was nothing there. If I asked all those party Secretary Generals what they affixed their signatures on, nobody knows," he remarked.

"Junet Mohammed was looking for proposers for Raila Odinga to become the Azimio candidate and yet we agreed that the new political outfit was Azimio-One Kenya. Quite frankly, my Secretary General has not signed because it was not specific about Azimio."

However, to clarify on the confusion, Raila Odinga Presidential Campaign spokesman, Prof Makau Mutua, noted that the One Kenya Alliance did join the Azimio La Umoja. He explained that only a party could join a coalition according to the Political Parties (Amendment) Act, 2021.
