An expose by a Pakistani television channel on the death of Arshad Sharif has revealed the journalist's painful last moments.
In a report released on Wednesday, November 9, Kamran Shahid, a TV journalist, divulged the findings of the postmortem which indicated that Sharif had been tortured for at least two hours before his death.
The autopsy established that the journalist suffered external and internal injuries as a result of the torture.
"His nails had been plucked out from his fingers, two of which were broken. His ribs were also fractured," Shahid broke down the information on the leaked autopsy results.
In addition, the body of the deceased had two gunshot wounds, one to the back of his head and the other to the right side of his upper torso.
Shahid revealed that the slain journalist had not been shot in the vehicle he was travelling in but was kneeling beside it when the assailants fired twice from close range.
Notably, the investigative team from Pakistan is said two have obtained CCTV footage from the crime scene which revealed that nine rounds were fired at the Toyota Land Cruiser V8.
The new findings poured cold water on the narrative by the National Police Service (NPS) that it was a case of mistaken identity involving an alleged carjacking.
A second report confirming the vehicle that was allegedly stolen and mistaken was recovered 30 minutes before Sharif was found dead also left more questions than answers.
Pakistani Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah declared the murder was pre-meditated. He reckoned that two brothers hosting the journalist had a case to answer.
The independent committee raised eyebrows on why, on the day of the journalist's demise, he used a different and longer route from the one he used from the gun range.
On November 8, Pakistani investigators demanded Kenyan authorities to release the identities of 10 instructors who were at the shooting range.
