Nixon Sifuna

 Nixon Sifuna is a judge of the High Court of Kenya.

He has presided over high-profile cases while issuing landmark rulings and orders.

Prior to his appointment as a judge, he was a lawyer and a fierce advocate of human rights.

Sifuna received the inaugural Development Bank Accountability Award for the year 2022 for his contributions to fighting for justice.

Okiya Omtatah

Okiya Omtatah is not a lawyer by profession as many people presume him to be, but is a Human Rights Activist. 

To many, he is the number one country’s public defender because he has filed some of the biggest public interest cases that have shaped the economy and political landscape.

Laila Macharia

Laila Macharia is a Kenyan lawyer, business woman, entrepreneur and angel investor who is the chairperson of the Africa Leadership Initiative (East Africa). 

She is a non-executive director at the Africa Digital Media group, ABSA Kenya plc (previously Barclays Bank) and Centum Investments, the largest listed private equity firm on the Nairobi Stock Exchange.

Nelson Havi

Nelson Andayi Havi is the President of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK). He was elected as President in February 2020, becoming the youngest head of LSK.

In 2021, Havi is still instrumental in leading the fight to protect the Constitution of Kenya. 

Martha Koome

Martha Koome is the Chief Justice of the Republic of Kenya. She made history, becoming the first woman to head the judiciary in Kenya. 

In her first 100 days in office, the lady Justice embarked on a quest to ensure rapid delivery of justice. This, she would do by pushing for the hiring of more judges in a bid to reduce the backlog of cases in the country. 

Justice Daniel Musinga

Justice Daniel Kiio Musinga has amassed over 21 years in the Judiciary essentially establishing himself as one of the top judges in the country. 

The current Court of Appeal President is synonymous with the ruling delivered on the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), where he declared the agenda as unconstitutional on August 20, 2021

Okiya Omtatah

Human Rights Activist, Okiya Omtatah Okoiti, is not a  lawyer by profession, but many see him as the country’s public defender due to the number of cases he has filed in the public interest.

His quest for a just society has seen him get into trouble with law enforcers, persevering beatings and lockups. At one point in 2012, he lost four incisors after an attack that was blamed on hired goons.

Nelson Havi

Nelson Havi is the current President of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK). He studied law at the University of Nairobi and is an advocate and the Senior founding partner of Havi & Company Advocates.
