The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has issued a 30-day ultimatum to individuals who are to collect their goods, including high-end vehicles, at various Container Freight Stations (CFSs) in Mombasa.
In a gazette notice dated November 28, the authority's Customs Enforcement Manager, Gakii Ruthiaren, stated that if owners fail to collect their goods, they will be deemed abandoned and will be disposed of.
The authority said that the goods will be disposed of through auctioning between January 5 and 9, 2025, through the authority's online portal.
Interested buyers have been directed to view the goods at specific locations indicated on December 29, 2025, and December 30, 2025, during office hours.
"Pursuant to the provisions of section 42 of the East African Community Customs Management Act, 2004, as amended (EACCMA, 2004), notice is given that unless the under-mentioned goods are entered and removed from the custody of the Customs Warehouse keeper, Container Freight Stations, Mombasa, within thirty (30) days of this notice," KRA stated.
"The goods will be treated as abandoned and will be disposed of in accordance with the provisions of EACCMA, 2004, including being sold by public auction on 5th January, 2026, 6th January, 2026, 7th January, 2026, 8th January, 2026, and 9th January, 2026 through an online portal," it added.
The vehicles that the authority intends to dispose of include Lexus, Nissan Note, Daihatsu Mira, Mitsubishi, Mazda, Toyota, Subaru, Peugeot, Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, Volkswagen Tiguan, Honda, Isuzu, and Mercedes-Benz.
Other goods include bags of used clothing, shoes, household items, drinks from the European Union, pallets and wall slats, oil and gas tools and equipment, and bathroom accessories, among others.
The items, which were all destined for Kenya, have been stored in several warehouses in including Awanad, Consolbase, Autoport, Interpel, Mitchell Cotts-MCF, and African Line, according to the authority.
The announcement comes two weeks after the authority also issued a 30-day ultimatum to importers whose properties are still lying uncollected at the Inland Container Depot and bonded facilities in Nairobi.
Goods in these locations will be disposed of through public auction between January 5, 2026, and January 9, 2026, through the authority's auctioning portal.
Among Items that are set to be auctioned by the Taxman from the Inland Container Depot in Nairobi are solar water heating systems, handbags, shoes, raw sugar, filter cigarettes, and furniture.
Other goods that are set to be auctioned include vehicles, including a Jeep Wrangler and a Mercedes-Benz.
