The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has announced the death of Georgina Margaret Oketch, who is a member of the party’s Disability League.
In a statement on Saturday, December 6, the party confirmed that Oketch passed on after a short illness. The party did not indicate when exactly Oketch died.
According to the party, Oketch also served as a nominated MCA in the Siaya County Government.
"We mourn the passing on of Hon. Georgina Margaret Oketch, a member of the ODM Disability League and a former nominated MCA in the Siaya County Assembly after a short illness," the party said in a statement.
"We have lost a dedicated member of the party whose immense contribution will be missed. May she RIP," it added.
The announcement came hours after Speaker of the National Assembly, Moses Wetang'ula, confirmed the death of Kenya Kwanza Alliance's nominated Member of Parliament, Denar Joseph Hamisi, who died at the age of 56.
In a statement on Saturday, December 6, Wetangula said that Hamisi died on Saturday, at around 7am.
'It is with profound sorrow that I hereby notify the House and the entire Parliamentary fraternity of the untimely demise of Nominated Member, the late Hon Denar Joseph Hamisi, MP, who passed on today, Saturday, December 6, 2025, at about 7am,'' Wetang'ula said.
Hamisi was nominated to the National Assembly under the Amani National Congress (ANC) party following the 2022 General Election.
In Parliament, he served on the Departmental Committee on Sports and Culture, as well as the Select Committee on National Cohesion and Equal Opportunities, where he was praised for his diligence and commitment.
"On behalf of all Members and staff of the National Assembly, and on my own behalf, I extend heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the late Hon Denar, and to all who experienced his humility and unwavering dedication to serving the nation and community," Wetang'ula said.
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, who previously led the ANC party, mourned the late MP, describing him as a principled and dependable leader.
