The daughter of North Mugirango MP Charles Mongare has been thrown behind bars after she was arraigned in court on Friday over links to the Al Shabaab terror group.
Erishina Mongare was arraigned in a Nairobi Court alongside her boyfriend Ahmed Lali.
The Court ordered that the two be detained until Monday as police probe the alleged Al-Shabaab links.
During the hearing of the case, the Anti-Terror Police Unit asked to hold the two for five more days to carry out investigations.
The ATPU argued that the duo was planning to elope to Tanzania before the end of May.
On the other hand, the couple claimed that Mr Mong'are, the woman's father, had conspired with the police so as to frustrate their relationship.
The case comes at a time when security forces are on high alert in the wake of relentless terrorist attacks in Mandera region.
