A contigent of Administration Police officers escaped death by a whisker after they were involved in a road accident on Saturday night while on their way to Kitengela from Kajiado town.

The 20 officers attached to the Rural Border Patrol Unit were headed to Kitengela on a special assignment to hunt down a gang that had caused the death of a police officer and a civilian three weeks ago.

“This is a highly trained unit of officers to handle clashes and criminal activities along the country’s borders. Most of them came from Loitokitok border with Tanzania while others came from Namanga,” said Mboya.

The police truck was involved in a head on collision with a Tanzania- bound lorry and rolled after the impact.

County Administration Police Commander Philemon Mboya told journalists that two officers suffered critical head injuries while eight others had minor injuries.

Kajiado County Commisioner Harsama Kello had directed the officers to take over security surveillance in Kitengela after several blood-chilling incidents rocked the town.

The officers were also following last week's incident where a seven-man gang raided a home at Hills View Estate and took away Sh300,000 from a family and injured one person.

On April 16, a five-man gang robbed Sh4 Million from a bank in the EPZ Africa zone and escaped into Kitengela town
