IEBC Announces When Election Officials Will be Paid

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced the date when it shall pay the 360,000 poll officials it had hired for the August elections.

Through a post on their social media, the electoral body confirmed that all the poll officials would receive their dues before the end of August.

“The 360,000 poll officials will receive their dues on or before 25th August 2017. Bear with us as we process,” the post read.

Among those who were in the IEBC team include 47 county elections managers and 290 returning officers.

An additional 262,665 polling clerks, 91,032 presiding and deputy presiding officers and 5,054 support electoral trainers were also hired during the election period.

Meanwhile, European Observers on Wednesday directed IEBC to publish all the election results to avoid further disgruntlement.

This was after members of the opposition demanded to be shown Form 34As to confirm that the polls were credible.
