Kirinyaga Governor-elect Anne Waiguru's Inauguration Moved From Monday to Tuesday

The inauguration ceremony of Kirinyaga Governor-elect Anne Waiguru has been postponed from Monday to Tuesday next week.

The changes were made in order to allow President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto who will be chief guests during the swearing in ceremony to attend.

Ms Waiguru's inauguration will be the first to be graced by the Head of State and his Deputy.

This was confirmed on Saturday by Kirinyaga Jubilee Party Vice Chairman Mureithi Kang'ara who said: “The event was scheduled for Monday but the changes were later made in favor of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy.”

Kang'ara also divulged that event would be held at Kirinyaga University grounds urging residents to attend the ceremony in large numbers.

"We are calling on residents to turn out in large numbers at the Kirinyaga university grounds in Kutus town on Tuesday." he stated.

Earlier plans indicated that the event would take place at Kerugoya Stadium but area residents protested on grounds that Kutus is the county headquarter.

The former Cabinet Secretary for Devolution and Planning is one of the three first female governors to be elected in Kenya with the others being Bomet's Joyce Laboso and Charity Ngilu of Kitui.

In the August 8 election, Waiguru beat Narc-Kenya leader Martha Karua, incumbent Joseph Ndathi, businessman Mureithi Kagai and Macharia Karani.

The President and his Deputy are also expected to attend the swearing-in of Laboso and Ngilu which will take place next week.

Elsewhere in the country, the swearing-in of Kiambu governor-elect Ferdinard Waititu, Samburu's Moses Lenolkulal and Josphat Nanok of Turkana is expected to take place on Saturday.
