Jubilee leaders Form Parallel Cabinet Opposing Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho

Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho is facing a new battle after Jubilee Party leaders vowed to form a kitchen County Executive Committee to oversight the operations in the county.

Meeting over the weekend the leaders resolved to have Abdulsalaam Kassim as the head of the committee.

“This is not like 2013 when we let people do whatever they wanted. All Jubilee MCA and MP candidates will keep them in check to ensure they deliver to residents,” he explained.

Mr Kassim shelved his bid for Mombasa Senator for former Deputy Governor Hazel Katana is set to be deputized by Said Mathias who ran for Majengo-Mwembe Tayari MCA.

Earlier on, National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga revealed why he only attended the swearing-in ceremony of Mombasa Governor among all other Governors.

Speaking during Joho's swearing-in ceremony, Odinga stated that he decided to head to Mombasa since Joho was one of the most courageous and able leaders in the Opposition.

He stated that he had nurtured Joho since he first vied for an electoral position in the Kisauni by-election following the death of former MP, the late Karissa Maitha.

He divulged that though the Governor lost, they remained together and campaigned for the rejection of the draft constitution during the 2005 referendum.

Odinga added that Joho continued to remain a true member of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and won the Kisauni seat in the 2007 General Election after which he appointed him Assistant Minister for Transport.

According to the NASA principal, Governor Joho continued to seek his advice and even consulted him before vying for the governorship in 2013.
