Orthodox Church Priest Runs Over 10-Year-Old Boy While Chasing Gunmen

An Orthodox Church priest in Kiambu was on Saturday attacked by gunmen in an incident that left a ten-year-old boy dead.

The armed attackers reportedly shot and injured the priest as they gained access to his church's compound in Kibiru area before robbing him at least Kshs. 30,000.

The two gunmen who were riding on a boda boda shot the priest outside his church and attempted to flee the scene.

Despite being wounded, the clergyman managed to pursue the thieves using his car as they rode away from the church compound.

When he nearly caught up with the duo, one of them jumped off the motorcycle while the other attacker stopped for a face-off with the already injured preacher.

It is at this point that the preacher is said to have engaged his car fully to run over the motorcycle and the armed attacker that he hit the boy, 10 who was by the roadside.

Elsewhere in Kapsabet, DCI officers foiled a hijacking incident and nabbed three criminals that have been terrorizing motorists in Nandi and Uasin Gishu county.

The three posed as police officers, spot vehicles and forcefully enter the cars before speeding off but were nabbed in a similar carjacking attempt foiled by the police during a patrol along Kapsabet road over the weekend.

"The three are suspected to be part of an organized group of carjackers who have been robbing motorists in Nandi and Uasin-Gishu counties while posing as police officers," a statement by the DCI confirmed.
