Former KTN Anchor Anne Ngugi’s Daughter Features on BBC

Former KTN anchor Anne Ngugi’s musician child Angel Wanjiru has been recognised by international broadcaster BBC for her talent.

Wanjiru, 14, ventured into music and BBC has described her voice as that of an angel befitting her name.

She was born with a condition known as congenital Hydrocephalus which is excess cerebrospinal accumulation in the brain but that has not deterred her dreams.

“I used to ask my mum a lot of questions,” she told BBC’s What’s New, “Why am I different from other people, why is it that when I pass, people laugh at me?”

She revealed that her mother often did not have answers to her questions and could always sing which inspired her.

She further revealed that she ignores people who laugh or look at her differently advising other disabled children to "look beyond those who mock them and focus on God".

In 2016, she released her first song in collaboration with her mother titled Nataka Jua (I want to know) that has more than 20,000 views on YouTube.

Her performance has attracted praises online with many acknowledging her strength, courage and talent.

EtalePhilip, a friend of her mother tweeted, “My friend's daughter. Anne Ngugi you have a wonderful daughter. She is such an inspiration. Give her the best. Look at how amazing she is...”

Wanjiru challenged other disabled children to accept themselves as they are created, always yearn to do better and never give up.
