7 Killed After Collision Along Eldoret-Nakuru Highway

Seven people died on Tuesday evening in a head-on collision accident involving two vehicles at Mlango Tatu area along Eldoret-Nakuru highway.

A truck from a company by the name Raiply collided with a matatu from Classic Shuttle.

Witnesses told Nation that the driver of the truck was trying to overtake at a sharp corner when the crash occurred.

The matatu was coming from Nakuru heading towards Eldoret and unfortunately, both drivers died from the impact.

The injured were admitted to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret and the wreckage to a nearby police station.

In another incident, two people were killed on Monday evening after an accident at Cement area on Mombasa Road in Machakos County.

According to a police statement, the accident involved a Nissan Tiida and a Mitsubishi Saloon car travelling to Mombasa.

The Mitsubishi vehicle is reported to have rammed the Nissan Tiida from behind killing the driver and female passenger on the spot.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has urged transport operators to be extra careful during the festive season due to the increased travelling that Kenyans undertake during the festive season. 

Inspector General of police Joseph Boinett has maintained that the police will not relent in enforcing the traffic rules despite facing opposition from politicians and matatu stakeholders.
