  • The dreaded Sany bulldozer has clawed its way back to Nairobi and government officials are also not spared of its wrath.

In its latest undertaking, the machine, on Friday, turned its jaws on Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi's car bazaar business located opposite Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi.

According to witnesses, there was a heavy police presence at the scene who oversaw the demolition that also included a restaurant whose owner is still unknown.

The demolition reportedly caused a huge traffic snarl along the busy Lang'ata road that connects the CBD to the high-end suburb of Karen and other towns.

This came a few months after the Nairobi County Government vowed to bring down all city buildings on either riparian land or public spaces.

Our attempt to get a word from the Senator was futile as he did not answer our text messages.

In December 2018, Sany also descended on Grand Manor Hotel located in Gigiri following the ruling that it posed a security threat to the adjacent United Nations offices.

The hotel owned by businessman Praful Kumar hit headlines in August 2018 when the proprietor was arrested by EACC officials in Kilifi County.

They claimed that he had attempted to bribe Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko in Kwale County.

They further explained that Kumar had allegedly planned to meet the Governor with a Ksh5 million bribe before the EACC sleuths closed in.

Here are a video and more photos from the scene:
