  • Police have unmasked a Kenyan fake gold syndicate showrunner known for splashy lifestyles and larger than life expenditures.

According to a report by The Star, the officers raided flamboyant Businessman Jared Otieno's houses in search of him, one of the houses being a posh Karen home that he reportedly paid for in Ksh110 million cash.

The officers reportedly towed away luxurious cars and documents in boxes from the palatial home.

It was also revealed that despite the huge expenditure, Otieno was yet to move into the house.

“We have information that Jared paid Ksh110 million cash for this house and we have found things in the house that belong to him,” an official familiar with the matter told the publication.

Otieno is wanted by the authorities over claims that he swindled foreigners in a gold export deal and this is, however, not the first time the businessman has been linked to the extortion.

In June 2017, Otieno was apprehended for obtaining money by pretending to be in a position to export gold from Kenya to foreign countries.

The matter was reportedly brought to the attention of the police by four foreign nationals.

Before that, the well-connected businessman also hit the headlines following an expensive wedding in Meru that was attended by Governors Anyang’ Nyong’o and Kiraitu Murungi.

He reportedly splashed Ksh15 million in the wedding's preparations, showed up in a luxurious caravan of 18 Range Rovers and a Porsche Cayenne while his wife arrived in a chopper.

He spent Ksh30 million to acquire the customized Porsche.

Update: The Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti confirmed that Otieno was arrested following an early morning operation.

Two vehicles, a Porsche and Bentley, were found parked at his Karen home

“The fugitive Jared Otieno has been arrested. We raided his newly bought palatial house in Karen where two brand new vehicles, a Bentley and a Porsche were recovered," stated DCI
