Babu Owino Hatches Plan to Secure Jowie's Release

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has declared that he will take action to ensure that Joseph Irungu, a prime suspect in the murder of Monica Kimani, gets justice.

The lawmaker, through his social media pages on Friday, November 1, demanded the release of Jowie on bail, claiming that many powerful individuals had managed to secure a cash bail/bond.

"When Governor Obado was alleged to have murdered he was given a cash bail/bond term. When Sarah Wairimu was alleged to have murdered Cohen She was released on Cash bail/bond," an excerpt from the statement read.

Embakasi MP Babu Owino. On Friday, November 1, he stated that he will write a letter to Chief Justice David Maraga to ensure Jowie's release.

He added that Jowie also needed to be released on bail or bond terms and only jailed if found guilty by the judiciary.

"Marxism's of law is that equity is equality. Is it coz Jowi is poor that’s why he is being frustrated by the rich judiciary?" he probed.

He also stated that he would draft a letter to Chief justice David Maraga and relay the same information to him.

"If Jowie needs a lawyer and cannot afford one, I will cater the costs," Babu told Kenyans.co.ke.

Jowie and former Citizen TV journalist Jacque Maribe are the prime suspects in the death of Monica Kimani, a businesswoman who was found dead at her Lamuria Gardens Apartment in Kilimani, Off Dennis Pritt Road on September 20.

On October 18, 2019, Maribe was released on a cash bail of Ksh1 million or a bond of Ksh2 million.

On the other hand, Jowie was denied bail by Justice James Wakiaga who termed him as a flight risk and that witnesses would be scared of testifying against someone who could access a gun when freed.
