Ex-IEBC Commissioner's Message to Amos Wako Lands Her in Trouble

Former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Commissioner Rosslyn Akombe's remarks on Busia Senator Amos Wako's US travel ban has generated heat from a section of Kenyans.

Akombe's post on her Twitter on Wednesday, November 20, sought to remind the ODM senator of his alleged role in the atrocities committed during retired President Daniel Moi regime, when he was the attorney general.

"Need we remind you, sir, that you served as AG during the Moi era? Goldenberg scandal, the torture of human rights defenders," Akombe posted.

Her comments came just moments after Wako defended himself against allegations by the US government which justified the decision to bar him from travelling to the country.

While addressing the press at Parliament Buildings, the Busia senator dared the US to make public the accusations levelled against him.

Netizens, however, did not take kindly to the comments by the former  IEBC commissioner who fled the country on October 18, a week to the repeat presidential election following the nullification of President Uhuru Kenyatta's election victory by the Supreme Court.

"You worked for IEBC, one of the most corrupt quangos on our land. You are part of the team that couldn't speak out when the election was being rigged. Go drying," Ochieng Nyabul dismissed her.

"Have you just landed from the moon?" prolific blogger Silas Jakakimba wondered.

Other social media users expressed regret that Akombe's departure from the country had dented the electoral process.

"Kenyans are still hoping that one day you will come clean on who killed Msando. We would also appreciate it if you lay bare the hidden agendas by the commission. If you cannot do that, then there is no difference between you and Wako," Ntongumania stated.
