Ruto's Mother Graces DP's Wife's Special Event

Mama Rachel Ruto stepped up her dedication to the empowerment of women when she brought together local and international leaders to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Joyful Women Organisation, which she founded.

On Friday, November 29, Oludolapo Osinbajo, the spouse of Nigerian Vice President Yemi Osinbajo arrived in the country as the guest of honour for the function.

She joined Deputy President William Ruto, First Lady Margaret Kenyatta, Gender CS Margaret Kobia and Ruto's mother Mama Sarah Cheruiyot in gracing the event at Kasarani Stadium, Nairobi.

"Glad to have Her Excellency Oludolapo Osinbajo, in Kenya. Her Excellency travelled to attend the Joyful Women Turns Ten celebrations at the Kasarani grounds. I shared with Her Excellency the work God continues to do through my office here in Kenya," Rachel tweeted on Thursday, November 28 after receiving Osinbajo a day before the event.

The organisation champions for the welfare of women through various poverty-alleviating initiatives.

Rachel, while giving a tour of her farm to a Citizen TV journalist in 2014, intimated that she founded JOYWO after seeing what poverty was doing to the confidence and self-esteem of the women around her.

JOYWO is also reported to have trained more than 4,000 women on public procurement, directly leading to the registration of more than 700 companies.

Its membership is spread across all 47 counties in Kenya. The organization’s headquarters is in Nairobi but it has offices in the counties ran by county managers and program officers. Currently, JOYWO has more than 400 employees.

Rachael has enjoyed a long-lasting friendship with Oludolapo Osinbajo.

On Friday, October 25, Mama Rachel took to social media to announce that she was hosted by Ms Osinbajo as the two fellowshipped together.
