Moses Kuria Escalates Fight With Waiguru

Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria's war of words with Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru escalated after the legislator lashed out at Waiguru over her new directive.

On Thursday, December 12, during Jamhuri Day celebrations in Kirinyaga, Waiguru directed County Commissioner  Jim Njoka to crack his whip on politicians who cause distress by spewing hateful remarks.

Her sentiments irked Kuria who had previously accused her of trying to turn President Uhuru Kenyatta against politicians allied to Deputy President William Ruto. On Friday, December 13, the legislator alleged that Waiguru had barred the aforementioned politicians from visiting Kirinyaga County.

"I don't know who permits those politicians to visit Kirinyaga. Whenever they tour our region, they end up embroiling their meetings with insults. According to them, abusing me will lower my popularity.

"I didn't tell them to oppose the BBI. I wonder why they come to cause chaos in Kirinyaga. Mr Commissioner, don't tolerate such characters," Waiguru stated in her Jamhuri Day speech.

Kuria, through his Facebook page dubbed Waiguru a tyrant over her sentiments.

"Her Royal Highness Waiguru declared Kirinyaga her bedroom and instructed the county commissioner not to allow other leaders there. Even Moi's dictatorship never reached this level," Kuria opined.

On Tuesday, December 10, during an interview on NTV, Kuria lashed out at Waiguru after she asked Kenyatta to be intolerant with him and Agriculture CS Mwangi Kiunjuri, who she forthrightly stated are openly undermining the president

On December 12, he also accused the Kirinyaga governor of derailing President Uhuru Kenyatta's legacy.

"I sympathize with President Kenyatta. If there was a project that could have transformed Kenya more than the Big 4 combined it was the NYS as originally designed. The President meant well," Kuria alleged.

The cold war between the two leaders also roped in Waiguru's husband, Kamotho Waiganjo, who criticised Kuria over his diparaging sentiments against the BBI report.

The Gatundu South MP and other collegues had intended to impeach National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi after they accused him of taking sides in the BBI debate, preferring a referendum to a parliamentary process in the implementation of the proposals.
