Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang'ula is not known to be flashy, neither does he cut a figure of a man endowed with wealth, with most of his possessions kept private.

A Saturday afternoon meeting with Senator Gideon Moi, former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka and ANC Musalia Mudavadi fairly lifted the veil on Wetangula’s kingly home.

Tucked away in the heart of Karen, the senator’s private villa is located in the exclusive Miotoni area which is favoured by foreign and local high-income earners.

At a glance, the charming home, reminiscent of a transitional style design, mixes contemporary and traditional elements to have the best of both worlds.

The home has large windows that draw in a lot of natural light in the living room that also features a fireplace.

The high ceiling in the living room boasts brown wooden blocks fixed in a parallel pattern which complement the beige colour of the wall.

The home has an expansive manicured garden that can host 100 people comfortably, which is not bad given that the owner is a politician with very good discipleship.

There is little doubt that the designers of the house thoughtfully planned before building the magnificent structure to maximize freedom of movement.

According to Knight Frank, one would require upwards of Ksh 80 million to acquire a house in the neighbourhood.

Miotoni has been tipped as one of the most sought after exclusive locations in Kenya alongside Tigoni in Limuru.

“While key spine roads nearby have undergone major infrastructural development, increasing connectivity, the local residents’ association is working hard to retain the ambience and character of the area,” Knight Frank reports.

Other VIPs who live in Karen include Deputy President William Ruto, ODM leader Raila Odinga, and Jubilee Sec-Gen Raphael Tuju.
